Caring for Teeth and Aligners
Aligners must be worn continuously and should be out of the mouth a maximum of two hours in a 24-hour period. Aligners should only be removed when eating or drinking and should only be reinserted after the teeth have been thoroughly cleaned and rinsed of all food debris.
Despite an increased hygiene habit, Invisalign® does provide the advantage of being able to eat the same foods you currently enjoy. No restrictions like popcorn or even taffy – they are safely consumed with aligners removed. A thorough brushing and flossing should signal the end your meal session.
Where to Start
Invisalign® therapy is very easy to get started with your dentist’s guidance. If you are a candidate for Invisalign®, your dentist will take a 3-dimensional digital photo of your mouth and provide a simulation of the possibilities for your smile. With your permission, your photos are sent off to a lab and all you need to do is wait for your aligners to arrive.
